Nandina

Nandinas have always been a garden favorite due to their foliage color, texture and their ability to produce flowers and berries. While the traditional “Heavenly Bamboo” may be a staple in older, southern landscapes, there are so many fresh varieties on the market. These low growing Nandinas require very little pruning–just a few touch ups by hand are all you need to do! This way, the plants are allowed to grow their own way.

Nandina shrubs also provide a bright pop of color to container gardens. The foliage transitions beautifully from bright green in the spring and summer to vivid crimson red in the fall and winter. Visit us today to pick out your Nandina arrangement!

  1. Plant your nandina in well-drained, rich soil. Some varieties can grow in a pot but the larger varieties should be planted in the ground.
  2. Plant your nandina in a sunny, or partially sunny spot. Nandina’s cannot thrive in full shade.
  3. Prune dead stems and shoots in the spring for optimal growth.
  4. Nandinas can be invasive so remove any unwanted growth at the root.
