Blooming Spring Perennials

Spring has sprung and so have the perennial flowers!  We are enjoying all of our colorful spring blooming perennials right now and want to share our favorite blooming perennials with you!  These plants return year after year, provide brilliant blooms and attract pollinators like butterflies and hummingbirds:

Foxglove (Digitalis)

Hummingbirds like the flowers on this old time favorite with vertical blooms.  Favorite Varieties:

Digitalis ‘Candy Mountain’

Digitalis ‘Dalmation Purple’

Clematis

This perennial vine is a favorite for mailbox plantings. Shorter varieties are excellent for container plantings and taller varieties for arbors, fences and trellis’s.

Salvia

(Sage) nemorosa or superba – Depending on weather Salvia usually starts to bloom in spring then continues into the summer. Erect blooms usually about 2 to 3 feet tall, in shades of violet, blue and white will attract butterflies to the garden.  Favorites:

Dianthus (Cheddar Pinks)

Favored for there wide selection of cheerful colors and clove like scent and often used for groundcover, edging and in rock gardens.  Favorites:

Iris (Bearded Iris)

A very popular spring time bloomer with many springtime colors to choose from in shades of purple, yellow, orange, white, pink and blue.  Favorites:
