Citrus Plants

Citrus plants are known for their shiny, dark green leaves and fragrant blossoms and fruit. These plants can be grown inside as a houseplant to bring the fresh aroma of citruses into your home! In bloom, they also serve as a stunning decoration.

Citrus trees come in many varieties, but oranges, tangerines, lemons, and limes all make wonderful options for an indoor houseplant. You’ll find dwarf varieties available for many of these cultivars.

You can grow citrus trees from seed, but you’ll achieve the best results from buying a plant at a nursery. Come into Fairview Garden Center to browse our selection and find your perfect citrus plant.

  • Citrus plants grow best when they receive 5-6 hours of direct sunlight each day.
  • Use a soil blend that features a considerable amount of organics to keep the pH down.
  • Water your tree similarly to your other houseplants. Water thoroughly at first then wait for the soil to dry between waterings.
  • Watch for any pests, but these will likely be avoided by keeping the plant indoors.
  • Add fertilizer as needed curing the summer months.
