Pumpkins

We carry a large variety of locally grown pumpkins, picked from the rolling hills of western North Carolina. We have large pumpkins and small pumpkins, pumpkins for carving and pumpkins for pie. We also carry a wide selection of heirloom pumpkin varieties, perfect for doorstep or table top decor.

Potting in a Pumpkin

  1. Select a nice, round, uniform pumpkin that will not tip over after planting.
  2. Cut a hole in the top of the pumpkin that is slightly larger than the container size of the plant you wish to pot, or, allowing enough room for a mixed container garden. If you are planting directly into the pumpkin you may want to poke small holes in the bottom for drainage.
  3. Scoop out the “guts” of the pumpkin.  Be sure to save the seeds for roasting!
  4. Fill the inside of the pumpkin with container garden soil. Or, drop a mum, cabbage or fall ornamental plant into the pumpkin…pot and all.
  5. Keep it watered! There’s a good chance your plants will last longer than the pumpkin so you may want to have a plan for after pumpkin season is over.
